We all travel more now than our forefathers did. We travel all over the world and only think of jet lag, and we are not covering large distances. Our world has become smaller and more reachable. And this is good. Help us to understand different cultures, people with a different way of life and work. But there are some essentials you should always check before setting off.
1. May seem obvious, but many people do not bother to find out things that most fundamental of the country they will go to. You must do this to avoid surprise or disappointment.

2. Check on the type of weather you will find where you are going. If you live in Florida and travel to northern Greenland, you will be in for shock, unless you know that many of colder weather in the normal there.

3. Make sure that the medical and general insurance you have (you have, do not you?) Is adequate for your destination.

4. Do you have all the documents and the documentation required for your trip? If not, get it!

5. Is there a disease you need immunization against where you will go? Check and find out before getting exposed.

6. If you plan to drive in the place where you intend to travel, make sure you have a license that can be received. You may need international driver’s license, for example. You and familiar with local driving laws where you will go? If not, become familiar, fast.

7. Finally, the most obvious one of all: the passport is up-to-date? And if not, whether you have enough time to update before leaving? You’ll be surprised, amazed even, how many people get this one.
